The Zhengzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone (hereinafter referred to as the Zhengzhou High-tech Zone) was among the first batch of national high-tech industrial development zones approved by the State Council in 1991. Since then, it has shouldered the mission of developing new technologies and achieving industrialization.

The Ministry of Science and Technology recently announced the Overall Ranking of National High-tech Zones and the Ranking of Four First-level Indicators in 2020. Among the 169 high-tech zones in the country, the Zhengzhou High-tech Zone ranked 17th.

On October 10th, 2021, the China BDS Applications Conference and China GNSS & LBS the 10th Annual Conference were held in Zhengzhou. As one of the organizers of this event, the Zhengzhou High-tech Zone has built a solid foundation for the development of BDS application industry and has prioritized the BDS application industry centered on "precision surveying and mapping" as one of the four leading industries.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020), the Zhengzhou High-tech Zone's GDP increased 126% to more than 51.5 billion yuan while general public budget revenue grew 73% to 6.7 billion yuan. The number of enterprises rose 276.2% to 45,029, the built-up area grew 51.7% to 65 square kilometers, and the number of permanent residents increased 83.3% from 300,000 to 550,000. Out of the entire city's total, the Zhengzhou High-tech Zone is home to 76.2% of high-tech enterprises, 65% of small and medium-sized technology enterprises, 69.7% of high-end innovative talents, and 84.6% of advanced research and development institutions.
“十三五”期间，高新区地区生产总值突破515亿元，增长126%；一般公共预算收入达到67亿，增长73%；企业数量达到45029家，增长276.2%；建成区面积达到65平方公里，增长51.7%；常住人口数由30万增长到55万，增长83.3%。区域集聚了全市76.2%的高新技术企业、65%的科技型中小企业、69.7%的高端创新人才、84.6%的新型研发机构。

The Zhengzhou High-tech Zone has accelerated the construction of innovation-driven platforms. There are 840 research and development institutions at the municipal level and above in the Zone, including 231 at the provincial level and above. In addition, there are also nine national-level enterprise technology centers, ranking first among all high-tech zones in Henan Province and 19th in China.
高新区加快推进创新引领型平台。辖区有市级以上研发机构840家，省级以上研发机构231家。国家级企业技术中心数9家，总数位居全省高新区第一，全国高新区单项排名第19位。
The Zhengzhou High-tech Zone has also promoted the formation of innovation-focused talent teams. As the Zhengzhou 1125 Talent Recruitment Program continues, there have been two Nobel Prize workstations, 13 academicians, 25 experts with special allowances from the State Council, nine winners of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 10 candidates for the National Hundred, Thousand and Ten-Thousand Talent Project, and seven Yangtze River Scholars in the Zone. The Zhengzhou 1125 Talent Recruitment Program has attracted 113 high-level talents (teams), ranking first in the city for many years in a row. The Zhengzhou High-tech Zone has more high-level talents than any other districts and zones in the city, and it also has 23 post-doctoral research centers (including sub-centers) and 11 provincial post-doctoral innovation practice bases, making up more than 30% of the city's total.
与此同时，不断增强创新引领型人才队伍。深入实施“智汇郑州1125”等人才计划，辖区拥有2个诺奖工作站，驻区院士13人、国务院特殊津贴专家25人、国家科技进步奖9人、百千万人才工程国家级人选10人、长江学者7人；“智汇郑州”高层次人才（团队）113个，连续多年全市第一；高层次人才数量居全市之首，博士后科研工作站（含分站）23家，省博士后创新实践基地11家，占郑州总数30%以上。

Notably, 2020 was the first year that the Zhengzhou High-tech Zone implemented intelligent "Digital Governance". That year, the National Supercomputing Center in Zhengzhou was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology, becoming the seventh national supercomputing center in the country and the first one in the central and western regions. That year, the Cybersecurity Science and Technology Museum, the first cybersecurity-themed museum in the country, became the highlight of Cybersecurity Week.
值得一提的是，2020年，郑州高新区开启了“数智治理”元年。这一年，国家超级计算郑州中心通过科技部验收，成为全国第7家、中西部地区首家国家超级计算中心；这一年，全国第一家以网络安全为主题的场馆——网络安全科技馆在国家网络安全宣传周期间大放异彩。
The Zhengzhou High-tech Zone implemented what they termed an "experimental field" and "one platform, multiple peaks" Smart City innovation model. The physical properties of the Zhengzhou High-tech Zone, the nearly 800,000 residents on a 99km2 stretch of land, are integrated into an experimental field for implementing the Smart City project, where an application–industry–ecology development model has been created through experimentation and testing. The Zhengzhou High-tech Zone has cooperated with a number of leading companies such as Alibaba, Huawei and H3C to build an ecosystem where multiple leading companies, applications, industries, and scenarios can exist and develop at the same time based on the new Smart City strategic framework of "one platform, multiple peaks", making the Zone a center for Smart City solutions.
郑州高新区在国内首创性提出了“实验场” “一台多峰”的智慧城市创新模式，把高新区99平方公里、近80万人口的真实场景，打造成承载智慧城市项目的实验场，通过实验场进行实践、验证，构建应用—产业—生态的发展模式。携手阿里巴巴、华为、新华三等头部企业，依托“一台多峰”新型智慧城市战略架构，实现多家领航企业共存、多种应用共生、多种产业共同发展、多种场景并存的生态体系，为把高新区打造成智慧城市解决方案的根据地而努力。
